The World Wide Web Consortium (W3C) was founded in 1994 to lead the Web by
developing common WWW protocols like HTML, CSS and XML. Services provided by the
W3C include: a repository of information about the WWW for developers and users;

prototype and sample applications to demonstrate use of new technology.
